Libertad

" (...) la libertad de un hombre sometido a un poder civil consiste en disponer de una regla fija para acomodar a ella su vida, que esa regla sea común a cuantos forman parte de esa sociedad, y que ella haya sido dictada por el poder legislativo que en ella rige. Es decir, la facultad de seguir mi propia voluntad en todo aquello que no está determinado por esa regla; de no estar sometido a la voluntad inconstante, insegura, desconocida y arbitraria de otro hombre, tal y como la libertad de Naturaleza consiste en no vivir sometido a traba alguna fuera de la ley natural".
